Weekend Recap: Paramount and Etude Open the 90s Club & More

It was a sizzling two days of WGI competition across the US, leaving fans even more excited for the upcoming weekend's Power Regional showdowns. Here's a recap of what you need to know from the March 9-10 weekend:

Charlotte Color Guard Regional

We may be a month away from the start of 2024 WGI World Championships, but Paramount and Etude are blazing a path forward after a spectacular weekend of performances. Both ensembles broke 90 after their respective Finals run, with Paramount having back-to-back 90+ scores after tallying the first 90+ score of the season at a WGI Color Guard Regional event.

JMU Nuance Open (IO) and Dobyns-Bennett HS (SO) also put up impressive scores this weekend, sitting just above the 80-point threshold. You'll want to keep an eye on both ensembles as they make their way to Power Regionals in the coming weeks, with JMU Nuance Open heading to Bethlehem for the WGI East Power Regional on March 16-17, and Dobyns-Bennett HS heading down to Atlanta for the Southwest Power Regional on March 23-24.

Richmond Percussion Regional

The small but mighty one-day Percussion Regional in Richmond brought together some of the Northeast's best talent across the Marching and Concert disciplines. Fan favorite ensemble, George Mason University, brought the heat tallying one of the highest score across the competition with their 2024 program titled, 'The Devil You Know.'  Spectre Percussion (PIO), Thomas Jefferson HS (PSO), and Chantilly HS (PSA) had big wins in their respective categories, while Corinth Holders Combined Schools took home a massive win in the Scholastic Concert World class.
