Houston, We're Ready For Take-Off
Houston, We're Ready For Take-Off
The 2018 BOA Houston Regional will be one of the most insane regionals this fall.
It is officially Band-tober and that means every band director, instructor, designer, drill writer, and performer will be pulling out all the stops to finish their show as soon as possible. Week 3 of the Bands of America season sees another round of competitions across the country including another massive show in Texas.
About 30 miles north of Houston sits the beautiful Woodforest Bank Stadium. This will be the host of the 2018 BOA Houston Regional on Saturday beginning at 7:30 AM CT.
A total of 31 bands are scheduled to appear in a contest that will feature some of the biggest names in BOA.
Making Their Debut
Ronald Reagan HS from San Antonio will be making their 2018 debut with their show called Loop. The show will feature music from Bach. At the 2017 Houston regional, Reagan had a fantastic showing finishing 2nd behind Vandegrift while capturing the award for Outstanding Visual Performance in finals.
The 2013 BOA Grand National Champions and local favorite, The Woodlands (TX), will also be making their 2018 debut. The Woodlands finished 5th last year in Houston and went on to make finals at the 2017 BOA San Antonio Super Regional. The Woodlands show is called Synapse.
Cy-Fair (TX) will also be unveiling their 2018 show entitled Time Waits For No Man. The show is designed by the WGI powerhouse duo of Ian Grom and John Mapes from Chino Hills (CA). In combination with Cy-Fair’s powerful percussion section, look for this show to be highly entertaining and show-off the drumline.
Clear Brook (TX) will also be making their debut at the Houston Regional. The reigning WGI Scholastic Open-Class world champions, Clear Brook's percussion will absolutely turn some heads this weekend. Here's a look back at their 2017 line warming-up in Houston.

Second Time Around
There are several bands who will be performing for the 2nd time this season. Vandegrift, James Bowie, and Winston Churchill all competed at the Austin Regional this past weekend. And all of them had a very successful weekend.
Vandegrift finished 3rd overall while Bowie came in 5th after finals were done. Churchill also qualified for finals in Austin and finished 9th overall.
Seven Lakes (TX) will be performing for the second time after capturing silver two-weeks ago at the McAllen Regional.
All of these bands will have had time to absorb the judges' information from their first performances and will certainly have added more to the shows since the last time we saw them.
