After an incredible weekend of performances, the 2019 DCI World Championships have come to a close. This Saturday night, 12 corps took the field for the final performance and only one is able to take the victory lap. Here's a quick recap of absolutely everything that happened this Saturday night. 

12th. Phantom Regiment - 87.238

Phantom Regiment was the first to perform on Saturday night with the last run of their show 'I Am Joan' of the 2019 season. This is the corps' 45th finals appearance having made finals every single year since 1974, just two years after DCI's founding. 

11th. Crossmen - 87.550

The valkyrie's strong performance launched them into 11th place this weekend. The high energy show earned them their highest finals score since 2004, for their show 'E Pluribus Unum' with a score of 87.425. The show was certainly a fan favorite and is sure to be remembered for years to come. 

10th. Mandarins - 89.300

In keeping with their momentum from last year's historic first finals appearance, the Mandarins tied their placement from last year with another 10th place finish. The corps did improve their score from last year by 1.15 as well but were just short of breaking the ever-elusive 90 point mark. The Mandarins also won the FloMarching Fan Favorite vote tonight.

9. The Cadets - 89.838

The Cadets finished their 2019 season in 9th place for their show 'Behold.' The Cadets are currently the oldest continuously running drum corps, and were celebrating their 85th anniversary this season. In those 85 years, they've won 10 DCI championships and 10 other drum corps championship titles. 

8. Blue Stars - 91.225

The Blue Stars took us to the great outdoors and also took home 8th place tonight, tying their placement from last year, but scoring more than a point higher. This is their highest score at finals since their 2010 show 'Houdini' where they also placed 8th. The show had many howling and was another fun one to watch this season. 

7. Blue Knights - 92.050

Finishing two places above their 2018 finish, the Blue Knights ended up in 7th place. They also scored over 3 points above their finals score last year, showing a massive amount of improvement year over year. This was their highest finals score since their 1999 show 'Suite for Brass and Percussion.'

6. Boston Crusaders - 94.488

The Giants slayed the giant Goliath and finished their season in 6th place with their highest finals score ever, just 0.1755 above last season. The fan-favorite guard also took home the Best guard award for the second year in a row with a finals night score of 19.90, earning a perfect 10 in Substance. 

5. The Cavaliers - 95.400

After getting themselves on the right track on the back end of the season, the Cavaliers finished in 5th place tonight. Their finals score this year is the best final score the corps has had since their 2011 finish with their show 'XtraordinarY' with a score of 96.85. The Cavaliers have made finals every year since 1979. 

4. Carolina Crown - 96.563

Finishing just 0.037 behind Santa Clara, Carolina Crown finished their season in fourth place, about as close as you can get to a competitor. They're also walking off the field tonight with their 7th Jim Ott Best Brass Award in the last 10 years, which is definitely an achievement to celebrate. 

3. Santa Clara Vanguard - 96.600

While some corps in the past have had difficulty maintaining their momentum after a world championship year with 'Babylon', the Santa Clara Vanguard went home with the bronze medal. They're also taking home the Best Percussion award for the 4th year running. Santa Clara is the only corps that has made DCI Finals every year since it's founding in 1972. 

2. Bluecoats - 98.238

The Bluecoats earned their second silver medal this Saturday night, the first being their 2014 show 'Tilt'. The Bluecoats also are going home with the Best Overall General Effect Caption. This is the first time since 2015 a corps has won the GE caption and not taken home the championship trophy. The corps did VERY well in the GE caption with one judge giving them a perfect 10 in achievement and another them giving them two 19.9s. 

1st. Blue Devils - 98.325

After quite the season of back and forth with the Bluecoats, the Blue Devils took home the gold medal this season, amounting to their 19th World Championship. The Blue Devils also took home the Best Visual Performance caption. They received a perfect score in the Visual - Analysis caption and also placed first in drums on finals night, getting a perfect 10 in achievement from the percussion judge.
