THE WORLD-CLASS EXPERIENCE: Henry Santos of STRYKE Percussion - Episode #1
Follow along with STRYKE Percussion's 2022 WGI season through monthly member vlogs, titled THE WORLD CLASS EXPERIENCE, created by rookie Henry Santos!
FloMarching's WORLD-CLASS EXPERIENCE vlog series aims to bring Flo readers an inside look at world-class marching ensembles. These monthly installments follow members from Étude World and STRYKE Percussion, and will run through WGI World Championship Finals in Dayton, Ohio.
Allow Me To Introduce Myself
Hello! My name is Henry Santos and I play vibraphone at STRYKE Percussion. My previous marching experience includes University High School in Orlando, FL from 2016-2019 and Ancient City Ensemble in 2020. Outside of band, I am a computer engineering major with a cinema studies minor at the University of Central Florida. I enjoy playing video games, hanging with friends, traveling, and taking pictures.
Getting Back to Business
After the 2020 and 2021 season was cancelled, I thought I’d be done with the activity and move on to other things. Cliff, our drum set player who I’ve also marched with at ACE, insisted that I should audition for STRYKE and see what happens. I haven’t touched mallets since March 2020 but as I was practicing the packet, I realized how much I loved playing! Since then, there was no looking back. I had people think I was crazy to travel 3 hours every weekend “to do band”. Maybe I am, but it’s just a testament to how much this activity and this group means to me!
See ya next month!
