Movers & Shakers: Guards To Watch Leading Into WGI World Championships

The 2022 WGI season has been a treat for fans and performers alike after two consecutive unconventional years, and as the season begins to come to a close, we wanted to highlight some ensembles to keep an eye on going into WGI World Championship Finals week. Here are three movers and shakers that we'll be keeping an eye on over the last weeks of competition in the 2022 WGI season.

Pegasus World (IW)

The Florida guard has been having a heck of a season, consistently putting up great scores and garnering big fan reactions from their Stanley Kubrick-inspired show. Audiences last saw them during week seven of competition, where they racked up a score of 89.100. Based on the rankings put up on WGI's website, they're currently seeded at 6th, with a seeding score of 90.600. Pegasus last went to WGI World Championships in 2018 where they ended their season in seventh place with a score of 91.250. Already, they're in a great position to use the next few weeks off to really fine-tune their show even more and really give the other groups a run for their money at Finals.

ORIGINS Open (IO)

The Independent Open classification has had quite a shake-up over the past few competition seasons, but ORIGINS Open has found its footing amongst the chaos. Not only is their show gorgeous, but they've continuously put up impressive scores throughout the season, most recently scoring an 88.400 and netting them a third-place seeding amongst the 24 groups headed to Dayton in April. While the scores amongst the Independent Open groups are fairly close, ORIGINS Open has consistently been at the top of the pack for the last few competitions, and it'd be awesome to see them continue their trajectory toward a stellar performance at World Championships.

Warren Central High School (SW)

Warren Central HS is having an awesome season. The ensemble most recently scored an 83.600, and have a seeding score of 85.100; only 2.650 points shy of their 2019 WGI Finals performance. Currently seated in 9th of the 15 Scholastic World programs headed to Dayton, Warren Central is in a great position to keep climbing and fight for higher positioning within the SW class and achieve their highest finals placement since 2015, when they took 5th place at WGI World Championships.
